Our client Gio, a well-known chef in and around Edinburgh, wanted a brand for his new restaurant in Slateford. He needed the identity to be strong, reflect his big personality and to be memorable. Gio’s vision was a local neighbourhood ristorante - elevated- a place where everyone can come and enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. The brand had to reflect this.
We created a bespoke wordmark with elements of Gio’s signature. The type is a bold serif, heavy and attention grabbing. The “g” was created with the intention of it being used as a stand alone emblem - an icon, BIG G. It is used across assets including hats, signage, window manifestations and menus.
We created a large mural (8m x 2m) for the restaurant interior that harmoniously worked with the interior and also expressed Gio's rebellious side. This involved designing a large Roman-style bust of the chef.
We continue to create content for Gio’s and run the social accounts.
